Schrobenhausen - A long-standing tradition: BAUER Spezialtiefbau GmbH has been inviting people to the 'Schrobenhausen Days' event for over 30 years. This year's traditional event took place at the beginning of June under the motto 'B.sustainable: sustainability in foundation engineering'. The special thing about it: After a three-year break, the guests could finally be welcomed personally in Schrobenhausen.
In the morning, the participants in the old welding shop received an introductory lecture from Arnulf Christa, CEO of BAUER Spezialtiefbau GmbH: 'Sustainability requires taking responsibility. The development of resource-saving and environmentally friendly innovations and technologies has been a clear focus at BAUER Spezialtiefbau GmbH for years. We are proud of being able to make an important contribution here with our ideas.' The aim is to reduce the effects of foundation engineering on people and the environment, to use raw materials more efficiently and to manage projects in a sustainable and environmentally friendly manner. Looking back at the past two years, he continued: 'The pandemic has brought us many challenges to which we have had to react flexibly.
In the exhibition area, the participants then expected various stations of construction technology, building construction and digitization. The latest developments from Bauer were presented here - a good opportunity for the guests to exchange ideas with the experts. Last but not least, BAUER Maschinen GmbH also presented its innovative BAUER Cube System and its first electrified drilling rig.
The actual series of lectures then took place in the afternoon as a hybrid event, in which the national guests took part on site and the international guests via webinar. Hans-Joachim Bliss, former Managing Director of BAUER Spezialtiefbau GmbH, led the program with exciting and varied project presentations, live links to construction sites in Germany and abroad, and interactive discussions. The lectures were translated simultaneously for the international guests who took part virtually.
Florian Bauer, CEO of BAUER AG and Managing Director of BAUER Spezialtiefbau GmbH, opened the series of lectures. In his presentation 'Digitalization at Bauer - Solutions for today's construction sites', he illustrated how important the topic of digitization has become for special civil engineering. 'The digital construction site is diverse. In addition to the use of digital tools such as data management software, databases or artificial intelligence, it is the people, our employees, our teams who are responsible for the success of our construction sites and without whom nothing would be possible,' says Florian Bauer.
This was followed by the first live broadcast to the Cairo Metro construction site in Egypt. Mohamed Sherif, project manager at Bauer Egypt, reported on the project in which a top-down construction for the rapid transit system is currently being implemented. Jee-Sun Rossler and Stefan Jager, sales engineers for the southern region, also reported live from a construction site in Munich: 'The mixed-in-place method is used in this project. The existing soil is used as an aggregate. This means that there is no need to transport the material away, which saves time and money, but primarily CO2.'
Following on from the live broadcasts to Cairo and Munich, the presentation by Dr. Karsten Beckhaus, head of construction technology at BAUER Spezialtiefbau GmbH, true to the motto 'B.sustainable: sustainability in special civil engineering'. He explained: 'Our top sustainability goal is to be climate-neutral by 2050.' And he further emphasized: 'We are focusing on providing sustainable products for our customers.'
This year's series of lectures was rounded off by a live link to Alaska: Bruno Luz, project manager at the US subsidiary BAUER Foundation Corp., reported on the extreme working conditions and logistical challenges involved in securing the Moose Creek dam in the Arctic Circle. Between the lectures, the guests repeatedly had the opportunity to ask questions via an online voting portal and to engage in direct exchange with the speakers.
The event was a complete success with around 150 participants on site and around 300 online connections. This year's traditional event concluded with lively discussions over a cozy dinner.
