It took five holes on the scorecard to break a tie between three Brevard County girls golfers Wednesday, but Viera senior Ana Maria Tea took home medalist honors from the Cape Coast Conference tournament at Indian River Preserve in Mims.
Tea shot a 35, matched by junior teammate Brittany Odic and Hannah Hall of Edgewood, an eighth-grader. Hall, by virtue of the scorecard tiebreaker, was the runner-up.
“I only played here once before,” Tea said. “It’s short for me, because I hit a pretty long ball. That played to my favor.”

She recorded a birdie on No. 3, and the rest were pars for the one-under round on a day she termed “pretty consistent.”
It was the first CCC tournament since ninth grade for the Hawks senior. She was injured last year and had a school conflict that kept her out of the 2019 event.
Viera also won the girls team trophy, shooting a team score of 150. Cocoa Beach turned in a team score of 190, followed by Edgewood and Merritt Island at 205. West Shore shot 213.
