Information in the Sheriff’s Blotter is gathered from the dispatch logs provided by the Plumas County Sheriff’s Office. No individual’s names are reported. And those arrested should be presumed innocent until proven guilty.

The following is a summary of activity for May 17-May 23, 2022

Getting a jump on the day

1:46 a.m. Portola. A male suspect was arrested during a probation check on a violation of being under the influence of drugs and probation violation.

9:26 a.m. Chester. A caller reports the neighbors are harassing her by videotaping her and her grandkids and yelling at her. She has reported it to the manager as well. 3:59 p.m. A deputy spoke with the caller that requests the info on file that her neighbors are harassing her and her grandson is suffering from it.

Old friend kidnapped without ransom

10:39 a.m. Lake Almanor. A caller reports when her husband’s truck was stolen, his passport and identification was stolen as well. 1:20 p.m. CHP took a report from the caller and entered the vehicle into the stolen vehicles database. It is a 2002 Dodge pickup, maroon in color. The keys were left in the vehicle. The paint on the hood and roof are peeling and the front bumper is held on with zip ties, and it has a silver camper shell.

2:32 p.m. Quincy. A caller reports she received threats over the phone from a client. 5:04 p.m. A Sgt. contacted the caller who requests the information be on file. The caller said that the subject made threats to end the caller. The caller was provided with proper restraining order procedures and is not concerned with the threat; said that the subject does not know the caller.

2:51 p.m. Chester. A caller reports a motorcycle vs. deer collision with injuries on Chester Juniper Lake Road, 3-4 miles from Chester.

2:54 p.m. Portola. A caller on Third Ave. requests extra patrol checks of the area due to multiple resident vehicles being vandalized the past few nights.

5:10 p.m. Chester. A caller reports that a subject appears to be casing multiple homes near Feather River Drive and Martin Ranch. The subject is riding a bike up the road and looking up people’s driveways. The subject is known, and his attire was described as a black hat, dark shirt, and tan shorts. Extra patrol checks will be made in the area.

He who throws the first stone

5:56 p.m. Quincy. A caller reports a group of juveniles threw a large rock at her child. The subjects are still at the park, under the swimming bridge; one has pink hair. The caller is leaving but requests that the juveniles be counseled. 6:42 p.m. A deputy advises the juveniles were gone upon arrival, spoke to others in the area and it appears the juveniles left earlier. The deputy contacted the caller and confirmed that the juvenile was not hit with a rock, and the suspect is unknown.

It’s a prankster mystery

12:33 a.m. Portola. A caller at a business reports vehicle lights found on in multiple vehicles, the yard was unlocked.

8:42 a.m. Quincy. A deputy reports he was flagged down by a known person requesting the deputy speak with his juvenile daughter who is refusing to go to school. The juvenile was counseled.

9:32 a.m. Graeagle. A caller reports a 15-year-old juvenile is refusing to go to school. 10:18 a.m. A deputy contacted all parties and the juvenile agreed to go to school.

10:12 a.m. Quincy. A caller reports her neighbors are riding their dirt bike through the park and screamed at her. 10:29 a.m. A deputy advised the information will be on file, it was verbal only.

11:30 a.m. Delleker. A female subject was arrested during a probation check on charges of possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of medication without a prescription.

12:58 p.m. Beckwourth. A caller reports a juvenile riding his mini motorcycle up and down the roadway. The call was transferred to CHP.

6:45 p.m. Graeagle. A caller reports being rear-ended at the stop sign at Little Bear and Mohawk by an orange and black Jeep. The call was transferred to CHP. The caller is driving a 2013 Toyota pickup. The subject driving looks to be intoxicated. 7:51 p.m. CHP requests units look for the subject vehicle. The license plate provided by the caller returned to a known subject and units will be on the lookout.

Leave it to the local Mounties

1:49 a.m. Quincy. A caller on Jackson St. reports a bear is trying to get into her garage. The information was sent to Fish & Wildlife. 2:01 a.m. Fish & Wildlife advised they won’t respond. 2:04 a.m. A deputy advised CHP scared the bear away from the location.

3:23 a.m. Sloat. A male subject was arrested after a caller reported a one-vehicle crash into a tree on his property with no apparent injuries. 3:57 a.m. CHP advised being on site issuing violations for driving under the influence and driving with an alcohol blood level above .08 percent.

How does that make you feel?

5:33 a.m. Chilcoot. A caller reports people are in her house, and she is in the back bedroom. The suspects are taking items out of the house. It is unknown who the suspects are, a male and a female, with unknown weapons. The caller sounds intoxicated. 5:45 a.m. The female called back, and a male got on the phone saying the female has been having mental health issues all night and he is her boyfriend. No one is at the home but himself and the female, plus dogs. 6:18 a.m. A Sgt. said there was no break in, and the female was hallucinating. If she calls back, request to speak to the male half to confirm what she is reporting.

9:47 a.m. Crescent Mills. A caller reports that last Wednesday night a suspicious vehicle came into his drive and laid on the horn for 10 seconds then drove away. The caller was unable to provide any vehicle information or suspects. It only happened one time.

5:17 p.m. Quincy. A caller reports a suspicious male behind SavMor scaring the female employees. The subject is wearing a blue shirt, is bald and currently shaving his face. 5:26 p.m. A Sgt. contacted a known subject who agreed to move along.

Adhering to advisories is adamantly advised

7:14 p.m. Quincy. A caller reports a large burn pile at a neighbor’s residence and is worried due to wind and it being a non-burn day. Quincy Fire was paged. 7:30 p.m. The homeowners were contacted and they were advised to extinguish their fire.

Yogi finds a place that’s … just right

7:24 p.m. Lake Almanor. A caller reports a bear broke into his house. The bear is now outside sitting on the porch staring into the house, refusing to leave. 7:34 p.m. Fish & Wildlife advised they will not respond because the bear is outside and not a threat.

8:55 p.m. Portola. A deputy requests a case number for a caller who found a chihuahua yesterday and wants it taken to Animal Control.

11:45 p.m. Quincy. A caller advised eggs were just thrown at her house. She did not see who it was. May 21, 12:10 a.m. A deputy was unable to locate anyone in the area.

4:20 a.m. Portola. A caller reports a male is trying to break into his house. The suspect opened his front door. The suspect is unknown, and weapons are unknown. The suspect is a white male with a thin build in a red hoodie. The suspect left towards Quincy on a motorcycle. The motorcycle seat was red. 4:44 a.m. CHP is on the lookout. 5:26 a.m. A deputy spoke to the caller who suspected he was possibly trying to go to the neighbors. 9:26 a.m. The caller recontacted saying one of the suspects is back on his property possibly looking for a backpack that was left during the first visit which is now in the caller’s custody. 9:44 a.m. A Sgt. received the suspect’s items.

Let go of the ball

9:44 a.m. Delleker. A caller reports a dog with their head stuck. Eastern Plumas Fire was paged. 10:08 a.m. Fire advised the dog has been released.

PLENTY of logs in the woods

9:58 a.m. Greenville. A caller reports that two people are on his property stealing wood; they are now attempting to hide near the wood pile. 10:26 a.m. A deputy advised unable to locate anyone around the woodpile initially, but shortly thereafter a known subject was arrested on a local warrant.

11:52 a.m. Delleker. A caller reports he needs medication and his doctor has not approved it to go to the pharmacy. The caller was advised to call the hospital. The caller said he is a victim of neglect of a disabled person and would like to file charges. 4:33 p.m. A deputy advised no crime, the caller was advised to call his doctor to confirm his prescription. The caller was also advised to contact the California Medical Board.

2:22 p.m. Portola. A caller is looking for his son who may be in jail. The caller was advised to call the jail to check and not misuse the 911 call number.

7:31 p.m. Portola. A caller reports three juveniles are setting off fireworks around Spruce Ave. and Ridge St.; they are still standing in the roadway. 8:04 p.m. A deputy located the juveniles popping balloons but no fireworks.

8:43 p.m. Graeagle. A caller reports a 300-pound boulder in the middle of the roadway near A15 and Nakoma Resort.

8:49 p.m. Quincy. A caller reports he just hit a mountain lion. The lion is in the middle of the road at Purdy Lane.

9:11 p.m. Quincy. A caller reports neighbors have an unattended burn pile. After the Fire Dept. left last night, the neighbors re-lit the burn pile. Quincy Fire was paged. 9:25 p.m. The homeowners were contacted and advised to extinguish the fire.

Time for that summer job

11:24 p.m. Portola. CHP reports they received a call about juveniles in a silver Toyota and a brown pickup with wings on the back in the area are throwing eggs. 11:39 p.m. A deputy advised unable to locate the suspects after looking on both sides of Portola, north and south, with CHP.

11:48 p.m. Quincy. A deputy reports a bear is running around in the area of Jackson and Church streets.

2:34 a.m. Quincy. A caller reports her husband is hiding her keys, so she won’t leave. The female sounds extremely intoxicated. 2:53 a.m. A deputy advised all parties are separated for the night and agreed to keep the peace.

9:44 a.m. Chilcoot. A caller received info of a possible disturbance at Frenchman Lake. More info was available via text due to poor cell service. A maroon GMC truck with two jet skis was refusing to pay and caused a verbal argument with the caller. 10:46 a.m. It was a verbal argument over boat fees. The caller requested the information on file and the suspects were gone upon arrival.

8:09 p.m. Sierra Buttes. A caller reports she is lost in the mountains hiking in the Sierra Buttes area. Sierra County has already been in contact with the caller and Search and Rescue are on their way.

11:16 a.m. Clio. A caller reports a 40-pound red dog (looks like a golden but not) got loose and has been seen in the area. She needs help as she is having to leave the area soon. 11:25 a.m. The information was faxed to Animal Control.

11:53 a.m. Beckwourth. A caller reports discharging a firearm to scare off a bear after trying other methods.

Another? Or the lingering cat?

2:02 p.m. Quincy. A caller reports a dead mountain lion on the side of Hwy 70 near Gray’s Flower Garden on the east side of the roadway.

2:21 p.m. Chester. A caller reports the Rotary Club is having a craft fair this weekend (5/28-5/29) and they will have someone in the park on Friday and Saturday watching the vendors’ stalls. They will call back with information on the person and vehicle description if they can get it. The information was faxed to the substation in Chester.

7:28 p.m. Deer Creek. A caller reports a single vehicle accident with no injuries at the intersection of Hwy 32 and Hwy 36. The vehicle is blocking one lane and is fully disabled. CHP was notified.

9:51 p.m. Quincy. A caller is rambling about numerous topics that don’t make sense. The caller is mentioning Sheriff office employees. They are calling from a blocked number and refused to answer questions or let dispatch talk. 9:59 p.m. The caller called again to ramble on some more.

1:13 a.m. Cromberg. A caller reports a strong smell of smoke in the area, it is unknown where the smell is coming from and requests that a deputy come to the area. 1:21 a.m. A message was left for Long Valley Fire. Greenhorn Fire will investigate. 1:22 a.m. Long Valley Fire advised most of the department is out with Covid. Greenhorn will respond to the area. 1:25 a.m. CHP advised there was a controlled burn in the Graeagle area today, there are no units nearby currently. 1:42 a.m. CHP advised driving through the area around midnight and did not see anything but did note the smoke from the Graeagle burn was still lingering in the air. 1:53 a.m. A deputy advised that a burn pile at Maricopa Trail/Wasco Trail in Graeagle is putting up smoke and it is controlled currently. 2:09 a.m. A deputy said the smell is the burn pile in Graeagle. 2:24 a.m. No fire was found. Alert cameras for Sloat are being checked and they appear clear. The smoke is thick in the area due to the Graeagle burn pile.

6:50 a.m. Greenville. A caller reports one dead deer and one severely injured just north of Evergreen.

10:20 a.m. Quincy. A caller reports there is a bear in the tree above the dumpster on Crescent St. The bear is growling and acting strange. They spoke to Fish & Wildlife today and they said they would not respond. 10:54 a.m. The caller was advised to vacate the area and allow the bear to come down and leave.

And without a building permit

10:46 a.m. Quincy. A caller reports someone is “building” on his property, and he wants to know his rights on clearing it all out, it is unknown who is responsible. 1:01 p.m. The caller was advised that he can clean up the property.

All day is better than all night

2:58 p.m. Quincy. A caller requests information on file that her neighbor is playing music all day.

8:36 p.m. Quincy. A deputy is out with a truck and trailer, possibly on fire, on Bucks Lake Road near the water spring and requests that Fire be paged. 8:50 p.m. A Sgt. advised Fire can cancel and CHP will not be responding unless requested.

10:54 p.m. Greenville. A caller reports she and her boyfriend are in an argument. The named subject is making threats to the caller and threats to burn people’s homes down. The subject could be heard screaming in the background. 11:29 p.m. A deputy advises no crime, the parties are separated and agreed to keep the peace.
