CAVELOSSIM: Santa Cruz Club of Cavelossim scored a hard-fought 5-3 victory against Goa Velha SC via the tie-breaker to move into the quarterfinals of the Cavelossim Villagers UK Cup inter-village football tournament, organised by Santa Cruz Club of Cavelossim, at Fr Druston and Wellington ground, Cavelossim.

The teams were well balanced and play was confined to midfield.

Cavelossim's Maven Gracias missed an early chance when he failed to connect  a through pass by Darren Estebeiro.

Goa Velha’s Ryan Kispotta combined well with Vikrant but his feeble shot failed to trouble the Cavelossim goalkeeper Aaren Fernandes.

In the 30th minute, a 20-yard pile-driver from defender Aston Vaz was fisted out by Goa Velha goalkeeper Agnelo Correia for an abortive corner. 

After a barren first half, the deadlock was broken in the  56th minute when Darren Estibeiro chipped the ball over the defenders for Joyson Estibeiro to beat the off side trap and put Cavelossim ahead.

Hardly had the cheers died down when Goa Velha's Bhavesh Gauns dribbled past Aston and Ashley of Cavelossim to side-foot the ball to Supurva Kundaikar who made no mistake to draw level for Goa Velha.

In the tie-breaker, Ashely, Allan, Darren, Joyson, and Flenco were on target for Cavelossim while Supurva, Lokeendra, and Vikranth converted for Goa Velha.
